Kyla Kares - GLAD Adoption Caseworker

"Although we are a small agency, everyone goes the extra mile for our birthmothers and adoptive families to feel comfortable and at peace."

Kyla Kares is an Adoption Caseworker for GLAD. She has worked at GLAD since 2008 as an Adoption Caseworker after completing a Bachelor’s Level Internship with GLAD in 2007. Kyla recalls looking at internship opportunities while obtaining her social work degree and immediately feeling lead toward GLAD. She could not explain the reasons then, but now realizes that God was leading her down this path.

Kyla believes that the best part of working with GLAD is the organization’s strong faith-based ministry. Kyla said, “Although we are a small agency, everyone goes the extra mile for our birthmothers and adoptive families to feel comfortable and at peace. I feel blessed to work with adoptive families in making their dream of becoming parents a reality through adoption. My favorite part of working with adoptive families is hearing their unique stories and seeing the joy they feel once they have adopted a child. I feel honored to be a part of their journey and to be able to tell their story through the home study process.

Kyla was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. She earned a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern Indiana. Kyla is the mother of two children, Hannah (age 13) and Asher (age 2). She has been married to her husband, Philip, since 2015. Kyla enjoys spending her free time watching Hannah play softball, going on walks, reading, and taking vacations. Her favorite vacation spot is Colorado, especially in the summer.
