"The birth mother is to always be treated with dignity and respect" and "meet the immediate need" of her situation.
Tonya has worked at Greater Love Adoption Decision, Inc. since September of 2008. What started out as 2 days per week eventually turned into full-time. Tonya was proudly trained by GLAD founder and friend, Nancy VanHoose, in adoption procedure and operations. The position broadened into document handling for all home study/criminal background check reports, obtaining results of criminal background check history for clients, overall office management, as well as assisting birthmothers however needed.
Working side-by-side with Nancy, Tonya not only learned the importance of detail in the workplace but the importance of being sensitive to the emotional needs of pregnant women and adoptive couples during the adoption placement. To quote Nancy, “The birth mother is to always be treated with dignity and respect” and “meet the immediate need” of her situation. Tonya is ready to support any woman in crisis pregnancy whether it is helping with food, transportation to a doctor's appointment, or being in the delivery room to experience the gift of life.
Tonya and her husband, Bill, have been happily married for 30 years and counting. They have two sons and two precious grandsons (so far). In her spare time, Tonya enjoys spending time with family, singing in her church choir, traveling, hiking, decorating, working outside and shopping. She feels so blessed to be working in a place that has made such an impact in the Evansville area and in her own life.
